Preview: St. Michael Warriors vs. Tara Trojans
St. Michael is 9-0 against Tara since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The St. Michael Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Tara Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully St. Michael is not getting complacent, as they comes into the match much higher ranked than Tara in Louisiana (St. Michael is ranked 105th, while Tara is ranked 256th).
There was early excitement for St. Michael after they claimed the first score on Thursday, but it was McKinley who ended up claiming the real prize. St. Michael took a 30-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKinley. St. Michael has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Preston Sentino, who rushed for 101 yards, and also threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns. Gavin Landry also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Tara's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 34-6 loss at the hands of Istrouma. That's two games in a row now that Tara has lost by exactly 28 points.
The losing side was boosted by Jordan Bowie, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped St. Michael to 5-2 and Tara to 1-6.
Everything came up roses for St. Michael against Tara in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-16 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Michael since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
