Baseball Game Preview: Wando Warriors vs. Stratford Knights

For the second straight game, Wando will face off against Stratford. Wando will welcome Stratford at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Wando is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Stratford just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-3.

For Stratford's part, Jachin Davis made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Davis also tossed a walk, which is notable because Stratford is 3-0-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2-1 otherwise. Davis was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Stratford got a great performance from Jacob Deacon as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jason Smith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Bryce Herpolsheimer was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Stratford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Wando's loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
