After a string of five wins, Locust Fork's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Holly Pond Broncos by a score of 45-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 31-20 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Locust Fork's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cortlyn Williamson, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 17 points and three steals. Williamson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Brilee Hays also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 5-2. As for Holly Pond, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, Locust Fork will be playing in front of their home fans against Hanceville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.71 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Holly Pond, they will head out to take on Good Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
