Preview: Casa Grande Cougars vs. Mountain Pointe Pride
Casa Grande is on a three-game streak of home losses, Mountain Pointe a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Casa Grande Cougars will take on the Mountain Pointe Pride at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Casa Grande suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Williams Field, falling 62-14. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Casa Grande has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Mountain Pointe suffered a tough 63-39 defeat at the hands of Casteel on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mountain Pointe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Casteel is ranked 85th).
Casa Grande's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Mountain Pointe, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16.
Casa Grande was taken down by Mountain Pointe 64-29 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Casa Grande avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
