Basketball Game Preview: Baker County Wildcats vs. Westside Wolverines

Baker County and Westside are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Baker County Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Westside Wolverines on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Baker County has four straight victories, Westside has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Saturday, Baker County escaped with a win against Fernandina Beach by the margin of a single free throw, 37-36. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Pirates are ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Westside played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-32 to Ridgeview. The Wolverines were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

Baker County's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Westside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-20.

Everything came up roses for Baker County against Westside in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 56-7 victory. In that match, Baker County amassed a halftime lead of 46-4, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
