Football Game Preview: Durango Trailblazers vs. Arbor View Aggies

Two dominant signal callers in Yarih Carrillo and Priscilla Garcia are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Durango Trailblazers will take on the Arbor View Aggies at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Durango ended up a good deal behind Amplus Academy and lost 24-6. The Trailblazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arbor View). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Desert Pines 54-6. Considering the Aggies have won seven matchups by more than 22 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Arbor View's win came from a few key players Durango will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Garcia, who threw for 101 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of her passes, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jayda Emil, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

One reason for the win was Arbor View's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Karah Foss was the leader with two.

Arbor View has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.7 points per game. As for Durango, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Durango was dealt a bruising 56-14 defeat at the hands of Arbor View in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Durango avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
