Basketball Game Preview: Contra Costa Christian Cougars vs. Redwood Christian Eagles

The Contra Costa Christian Cougars will take on the Redwood Christian Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Contra Costa Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Redwood Christian will come in with eight straight victories.

Last Thursday, Contra Costa Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-55 to Valley Christian. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly six points.

Redwood Christian's win came from a few key players Contra Costa Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nehemiah Mitchell, who posted 13 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (four). David Rogers was another key player, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds.

Redwood Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points per game. As for Contra Costa Christian, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-8.

Contra Costa Christian was taken down by Redwood Christian 52-20 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Contra Costa Christian was down 32-6.
