The Buena Vista Demons will be taking part in a tournament against the Rangely Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Buena Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Buena Vista turned things around against Center on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 19-2 victory. The Demons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Buena Vista let Knox Reid and Hudson Wingo run wild. Reid got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Wingo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Wingo has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Scott, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Buena Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Rangely was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 11-5 to North Fork.
Rangely saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Carlson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Trey Lewis also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Rangely's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Buena Vista, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
Rangely's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Buena Vista has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Rangely, though, as they've only averaged .306. Will they be able to contain Buena Vista's hitters?
Buena Vista came up short against Rangely when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
