Basketball Recap: Telos Takes a Loss

Telos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Merit Preparatory Academy Knights and fell 100-26. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Telos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 82-20 back in November of 2024.

Cruz Steinman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Merit Preparatory Academy, going 13 for 20 on his way to 31 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Steinman a new career-high. Michigan Draper was another key player, almost dropping a triple-double on ten points, 12 assists, and nine steals.

Telos' loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Telos and Escalante will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, they will take on Utah Military Academy - Hill Field at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merit Preparatory Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Utah Military Academy - Hill Field likes a good challenge.
