Baseball Recap: Cortez Takes a Loss

Cortez lost against Goldwater back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cortez Colts fell 13-8 to the Goldwater Bulldogs. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Julian Cabrera was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Kolby Lopez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Cortez's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Goldwater, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cortez will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Combs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Goldwater, they will take on Agua Fria at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
