Coronado Gets a Boost from Finch in 34-31 Win

Coronado's six-game losing streak is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Demarion Finch. Caprock had no answer to Finch on Friday as he rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 48 receiving yards. That's the most rushing yards Finch has posted since back in August.

On the season, Finch has averaged 34.5 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he had four rushing touchdowns. This year he is already up to seven.

Tristan Beal Turns in Season-Best Performance

Tristan Beal produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Abilene to the win on Thursday. Beal threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

For the season, Beal has thrown 11 touchdowns (and no picks) while averaging 122 passing yards per game.

Xavier Vargas' Rushing Yards a New Career-High

On Friday, Caprock had to settle for second even though Xavier Vargas put up the best numbers he has all season. Vargas rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 61 yards.

Caprock is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. Vargas will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Lubbock on Friday.
