Softball Recap: Treutlen Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Treutlen had won five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they bumped up to 3-0 to make it six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Telfair County Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since September 11, 2024.

Ella Roberson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Treutlen saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylyn Kight, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Addyson Horne was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

As for Telfair County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Telfair County's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lylah Cate Jones gave up three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Jones.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Treutlen is set to square off against their familiar foe Wheeler County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Telfair County will face off against rival Hawkinsville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
