Basketball Recap: Brownsville Comes Up Short

Brownsville lost against Southmoreland back in January of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Brownsville Falcons had to suffer through a 68-32 loss at the hands of the Southmoreland Scotties. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 669th, while the Scotties are ranked 214th).

Brownsville's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Southmoreland, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brownsville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Waynesburg Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Southmoreland, they will square off against Elizabeth Forward at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southmoreland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Elizabeth Forward likes a good challenge.
