Basketball Recap: Sidwell Friends Makes It 19 in a Row at Home

On Thursday, Sidwell Friends faced Maret in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Sidwell Friends Quakers put the hurt on the Maret Frogs with a sharp 63-42 win. The victory was nothing new for the Quakers as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Sidwell Friends' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalyn Collingwood led the charge by going 11-for-16 on his way to 28 points and six rebounds. What's more, Collingwood also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Caleb Gillus was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 13 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Sidwell Friends smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Sidwell Friends' win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points over those games. As for Maret, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Sidwell Friends wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-50 victory against Flint Hill on the 22nd. Maret does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
