Soccer Game Preview: Vernon Hills vs. Libertyville

Vernon Hills hasn't had much luck against Libertyville recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Vernon Hills is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Maine East a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Vernon Hills' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Maine East are ranked 351st).

Meanwhile, Libertyville was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Forest on Thursday, taking the game 2-0.

Lilly Frantz and Gianna Amidei scored both of the Wildcats' goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Libertyville's win bumped their record up to 12-1-3. As for Vernon Hills, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-2.
