Baseball Recap: Miamisburg Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Centerville, Miamisburg was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Fairmont Firebirds a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 3rd.

Reed Warner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Miamisburg: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-9 otherwise.

Miamisburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Fairmont, they moved to 13-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miamisburg will take on Middletown at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fairmont, they will host Ryle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Firebirds surely won't give up without a fight.
