Freedom is 0-8 against Potomac Senior since April of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Freedom is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Park View on Tuesday as they made off with a 25-4 win. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.
Chloe Fisher was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, seven stolen bases, and five runs. She also put up four RBI, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Rutledge, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with ten stolen bases and four runs.
Freedom always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .762. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Potomac Senior can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They never let Gar-Field get on the board and left with a 27-0 win. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Ericka Hampson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Hampson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zuri Coleman, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Jeanette Thompson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Potomac Senior's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Freedom, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Freedom has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 16.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Potomac Senior struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
