Soccer Recap: Gardner-Edgerton Comes Up Short

Gardner-Edgerton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Shawnee Mission East Lancers, falling 7-0. Gardner-Edgerton were not able to make up for their loss to Shawnee Mission East from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Gardner-Edgerton was without their leading scorer, Ricardo Garcia De La Cruz, in Thursday's matchup. With Garcia De La Cruz sidelined, Rudy Taylor got his first action of the season.

Gardner-Edgerton now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Shawnee Mission East, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gardner-Edgerton will challenge rival Lawrence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission East is set to face off against their familiar foe Mill Valley on Saturday.
