Marysville Getchell lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Shorewood, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. Marysville Getchell put the hurt on Shorewood with a sharp 13-3 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Marysville Getchell has posted against Shorewood since March 26, 2019.
The team relied heavily on Lilyana Balgos, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Swanson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Balgos wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Marysville Getchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shorewood only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest lost 17-6 to Cascade on Tuesday. The Scots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Riu Hanrahan and Lyla Ann Taing did some serious damage despite the final result: Hanrahan scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Taing scored a run while going 3-for-3. Hanrahan is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Gabrielle Lawrence also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Marysville Getchell and bumps their season record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Shorecrest, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marysville Getchell has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Shorecrest struggles in that department as they've averaged .548. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
