Baseball Recap: Chatsworth Takes a Loss

Chatsworth extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 10-13-1 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the El Camino Real Royals. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Royals this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat on Wednesday.

As for El Camino Real, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For El Camino Real's part, Devin Gonor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. Gonor has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, El Camino Real saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Troy Shaw, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Chatsworth didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-7 loss against Cleveland on the 5th. As for El Camino Real, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Birmingham on the 6th.
