Pinecrest Academy falls despite strong effort from Johnny Lynch

Recap: Pinecrest Academy Paladins vs. Friendship Christian Spartans

The Pinecrest Academy Paladins pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Friendship Christian by a score of 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Pinecrest Academy has suffered yet this season.

Despite the loss, Pinecrest Academy still got an impressive performance from Johnny Lynch, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Lynch hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Peter Birozes was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.

Even though they lost, Pinecrest Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Friendship Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kevin Morozov, who scored 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Morozov has scored at least a third of Friendship Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Markov, who scored 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Pinecrest Academy and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Friendship Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinecrest Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monsignor Donovan Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Friendship Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Georgia Force Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Georgia Force Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
