Basketball Recap: Highland Springs Wins Going Away Against Monacan

After losing to Monacan the last time they met, Highland Springs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Springers strolled past the Chiefs with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 94-80. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Springers.

Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tai Bowler, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. The game was Bowler's fourth in a row with at least 23 points. Another player making a difference was Kobe Benjamin, who went 5-for-11 en route to 14 points in addition to eight assists and five boards.

Highland Springs' win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Monacan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Springs will host Clover Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monacan, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Richmond High School for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
