Baseball Game Preview: Oak Lawn Spartans vs. Argo Argonauts

For the second straight game, Oak Lawn will face off against Argo. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Argonauts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Lawn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Oak Lawn turned things around against Argo on Monday. They put the hurt on the Argonauts with a sharp 14-1 win.

John Olejniczak made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Oak Lawn's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 2-9 when he doesn't). Olejniczak was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.

Olejniczak wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Justin Canvin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Canvin has become a key player for Oak Lawn: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another was Jackson Hilger, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Oak Lawn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Argo has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Oak Lawn, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
