Basketball Recap: Carroll's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Yorktown came into Saturday's matchup looking for another win against Carroll, but Paxton Crane wouldn't allow it. The Carroll Chargers had just enough and edged the Yorktown Tigers out 39-36 thanks in part to Crane, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and eight boards. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played.

Jack Van Order was another key player, putting up five points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).

Yorktown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Trammell, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Burkholder, who scored eight points.

Carroll moved to 7-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Yorktown, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carroll will square off against Huntington North at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Huntington North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season. As for Yorktown, they will challenge Pendleton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Yorktown is facing Pendleton Heights at the right time seeing as Pendleton Heights is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
