Baseball Game Preview: Perry Central Commodores vs. South Spencer Rebels

The Perry Central Commodores are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the South Spencer Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Spencer took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Perry Central, who comes in off a win.

Perry Central is headed out to face South Spencer after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Commodores had just enough and edged out South Central 4-2.

Owen Hubert made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hubert was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cohen Edwards, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Luke Zellers was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, South Spencer had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 11-5 to Tecumseh.

Logan Trone made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Perry Central suffered a grim 20-11 defeat to South Spencer in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Commodores avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
