Baseball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Cougars vs. Aliso Niguel Wolverines

For the second straight game, Capistrano Valley will face off against Aliso Niguel. The Cougars will host the Wolverines at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Capistrano Valley 3.2, Aliso Niguel 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Capistrano Valley came up short against Aliso Niguel and fell 6-3.

For Aliso Niguel's part, Connor Etnire looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Etnire has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Cooper Flemming was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

The victory (which was Aliso Niguel's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Capistrano Valley, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9-1.
