The Weslaco East Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Rivera Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weslaco East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Weslaco East's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Donna North as they made off with a 25-0 victory. The Wildcats have beaten the Chiefs the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chiefs has come to flipping the script.

Kaylin Morales made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Angelica Herrera and Jessica Salazar did most of the damage at the plate: Herrera went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Salazar went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Herrera has posted since back in February. Bella Herrera was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.
Weslaco East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Rivera came up short against Pace on Tuesday and fell 6-3. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Anahy Gonzalez-Torres and Dezaray Banda did some serious damage despite the final result: Gonzalez-Torres went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Banda went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that Gonzalez-Torres hit this season.
Weslaco East's record is now 18-4. As for Rivera, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.
Weslaco East took their win against Rivera when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
