After a string of three wins, Mattoon's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mattoon of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Mattoon's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2-1 record this season.
