Baseball Game Preview: Campbell County Cougars vs. Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes

The Campbell County Cougars will square off against the Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Campbell County has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Campbell County fell victim to Carter and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Green Hornets, falling 22-0. The Cougars have struggled against the Green Hornets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

Campbell County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Ford, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Ford's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Morristown-Hamblen East posted their closest win since April 20, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Northeast 8-7.

Landry Winstead and Isaac Greene did most of the damage at the plate: Winstead scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Greene scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Greene has posted since back in April of 2024. Parker Setsor was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Campbell County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6-1.

Campbell County suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Morristown-Hamblen East in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Campbell County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
