Baseball Game Preview: Newmarket Mules vs. Epping Blue Devils

The Newmarket Mules will head out on the road to square off against the Epping Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Newmarket comes in on eight and Epping on three.

On Monday, Newmarket beat Mascenic Regional 8-5.

Meanwhile, Epping made easy work of Hinsdale on Monday and carried off a 16-6 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Epping let Nolan Schmal and Leo Puglielli run wild. Schmal got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Puglielli went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, Schmal is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Another player making a difference was William Ciriello, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Epping's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Newmarket, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Newmarket came out on top in a nail-biter against Epping in their previous meeting on Wednesday, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mules since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
