Softball Game Preview: Edison Eagles vs. Annandale Atoms

Edison is a perfect 10-0 against Annandale since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Atoms at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edison has four straight victories, Annandale has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Edison's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Mount Vernon. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jazmyn Roberson was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Marley Jackson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .610 or higher in three consecutive games.

George C. Marshall hit Annandale with a eight-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Atoms came up short against the Statesmen, falling 15-2.

Edison's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Annandale, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Edison took their victory against Annandale in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 18-5 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Atoms have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
