Softball Recap: Camelback Spartans vs. Apollo Hawks
Camelback extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 2-15. They lost 14-1 to the Apollo Hawks. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 18-5 to the Hawks when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Apollo, their record is now 4-17. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 2nd (when they won 22-6).
For Apollo's part, Ariana Guijarro Ortega made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Guijarro Ortega posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Whitney Chrisman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mercy Chapman, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
As of now, neither Camelback nor Apollo have any future games scheduled.
