Basketball Game Preview: Moses Brown Quakers vs. Narragansett Mariners

Moses Brown is 0-4 against Narragansett since January of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Moses Brown Quakers will venture away from home to take on the Narragansett Mariners at 6:30 p.m. Moses Brown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Narragansett likes a good challenge.

Moses Brown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Times Squared Academy, who was ranked 24th at the time (Moses Brown was ranked fifth). Moses Brown came out on top against Times Squared Academy by a score of 58-50 on Saturday.

Moses Brown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Collin Mburu led the charge by going 8 of 16 on his way to 16 points and six boards. Otis Crosby was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Moses Brown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Narragansett ended up a good deal behind North Providence on Saturday and lost 68-51. The Mariners have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Narragansett's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Moses Brown, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

Moses Brown came up short against Narragansett in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, falling 66-53. Can Moses Brown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
