Baseball Game Preview: Barbers Hill Eagles vs. West Brook Bruins

The Barbers Hill Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the West Brook Bruins at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Barbers Hill's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so West Brook's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Barbers Hill can't be too worried about heading out to take on West Brook: they just beat Nederland at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Eagles walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Ayden Mooring tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joseph Ponder was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Cale Dunham was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, West Brook was able to grind out a solid win over Port Arthur Memorial on Friday, taking the game 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.

Barbers Hill is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for West Brook, their record now sits at 7-18-1.
