Soccer Game Preview: Wai'anae vs. 'Aiea

The Wai'anae Seariders will face off against the 'Aiea Na Alii at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Wai'anae's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wai'anae fell victim to Campbell and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Sabers, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Seariders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Hawaii soccer rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Sabers are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed 'Aiea with a 6-1 loss courtesy of Mililani on Friday. The Na Alii have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

'Aiea's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wai'anae, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-2.

Wai'anae suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to 'Aiea when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Wai'anae avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
