Soccer Game Preview: Spring Valley vs. Point Pleasant

The Spring Valley Timberwolves will square off against the Point Pleasant Big Blacks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spring Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

Spring Valley is headed into Tuesday's matchup following a draw, the team's first since September 4. They and Parkersburg finished up their match with a 2-2 draw on Thursday. The outcome might've been different if Will McFann hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Filip Jessen and Oscar Rojas scored both of Spring Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Meanwhile, Point Pleasant faced Woodrow Wilson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Big Blacks came up short against the Flying Eagles, falling 6-0. Point Pleasant's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Spring Valley's draw makes their record 9-4-3 this season. As for Point Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7-1.

Spring Valley suffered a grim 7-2 defeat to Point Pleasant when the teams last played back in September of 2022. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Timberwolves were down 6-1.
