Basketball Recap: Donahue Catholic's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Donahue Catholic entered their game against Neumann on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Donahue Catholic Shamrocks took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Neumann Celtics. The Shamrocks were not able to make up for their loss to the Celtics from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Donahue Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Veronica Halisky, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards. Halisky has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times she's played. Camille Kelly was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Donahue Catholic's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-6. As for Neumann, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-9.

Donahue Catholic and Neumann should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Donahue Catholic will square off against Immokalee at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 399 places (205 vs. 604). Donahue Catholic will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. Similarly, Neumann (ranked 209th) will meet Southwest Florida Christian (ranked 542nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
