Basketball Recap: South Aiken's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

South Aiken can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 71-62 win over the Gilbert Indians. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 73-27 back in November of 2024.

South Aiken's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyson McLeod, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave McLeod a new career-high in points. Kelton Walker was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Gilbert lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trevon Williamson, who posted 15 points. Williamson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor James, who put up 14 points.

South Aiken's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for Gilbert, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

When South Aiken and Gilbert next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. South Aiken will try to stop North Augusta's 12-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gilbert will try to stop Midland Valley's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
