Baseball Preview: Jackson County Generals vs. Knox Central Panthers
Jackson County is 0-3 against Knox Central since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Generals will challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.
Jackson County is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since April 11th on Monday. They came up short against South Laurel, falling 15-3.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Knox Central duked it out with Bell County on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 10-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Zack Carrol spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brady Engle was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Knox Central is 3-1 when Engle posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Hayden Melton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Knox Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-11. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Jackson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.
