Softball Recap: Welsh Victorious

Welsh's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights by a score of 6-3. This was a revenge game for the Greyhounds: when they faced off against the Knights back in March, they had to take a 8-5 defeat.

Alexis Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Hayes, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Welsh's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Welsh will face off against Iota at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, they will take on Midland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
