Soccer Game Preview: Chesterton vs. Hanover Central

The Chesterton Trojans will take on the Hanover Central Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hanover Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chesterton, who comes in off a win.

Chesterton took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Portage a 9-0 shutout. Chesterton might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by three goals or more this season.

They hit Portage with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Claire Vrahoretis (3), Adey Avey (3), Eva Montes (2), and Lorelai Simmons.

Meanwhile, Hanover Central managed to keep up with Munster until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Hanover Central's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hanover Central's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-4-1. As for Chesterton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
