Baseball Game Preview: Verona Hillbillies vs. Cedar Grove Panthers

The Verona Hillbillies are taking a road trip to square off against the Cedar Grove Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Verona's offense. They lost 13-0 to Millburn on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Hillbillies in their meetings with the Millers: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Cedar Grove got the win against Clifton on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cedar Grove is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Verona, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.

Verona skirted past Cedar Grove 8-6 in their previous matchup on Friday. Do the Hillbillies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
