Baseball Game Preview: Brown County Eagles vs. West Vigo Vikings

Brown County hasn't had much luck against West Vigo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will square off against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m.

Brown County is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 16th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Sullivan. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since May 17, 2024.

Jade Woolems was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Woolems was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kody Shugars made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

West Vigo came out on top against Parke Heritage on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Vikings blew past the Wolves 8-1. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Brown County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for West Vigo, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Brown County suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to West Vigo when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
