Baseball Game Preview: Lake Central Indians vs. Chesterton Trojans

For the second straight game, Lake Central will face off against Chesterton. The Indians will face off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Central's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Chesterton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lake Central took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Chesterton by a score of 5-2. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Josh Flores tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Drew Kosteba was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Hein, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Lake Central pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Chesterton, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
