Baseball Recap: Plymouth Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Plymouth won against Western Reserve on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Big Red came out on top against the Mapleton Mounties by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 back in April.

Jarrett Burrer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keegan Beverly, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Plymouth is 8-3 when Beverly posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Plymouth pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mapleton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Plymouth will look to defend their home field on Friday against Margaretta at 5:00 p.m. As for Mapleton, they will venture away from home to challenge Northwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
