Baseball Recap: Bellarmine College Prep Gets the Win

Bellarmine College Prep posted their closest victory since April 11th on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs, sneaking past 6-4. The win continues a trend for the Bells in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won three in a row.

Apolo Lapiz tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vincent Kim was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ollie McNamara, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Bellarmine College Prep now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Archbishop Mitty, they dropped their record down to 11-14 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Bellarmine College Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Monarchs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
