Basketball Recap: Harlem Victorious

Harlem won the last time they faced Howard, and Jayden Futrell did his part to make sure it happened again. The Harlem Bulldogs blew past the Howard Huskies 77-54 on Monday thanks in part to Futrell, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Harlem is 5-2 when he posts at least five steals, but 7-10 otherwise.

Aj Williams was another key player, going 8 of 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 48.3% field goal percentage.

The win got Harlem back to even at 12-12. As for Howard, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Coming up, Harlem won't have much time to rest: their next game is against West Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Laurens knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Harlem likes a good challenge. Howard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
