Volleyball Recap: Poway Comes Up Short

Poway lost against Torrey Pines on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Titans fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Poway started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-13.

Torrey Pines can attribute much of their success to Ben Brzenski, who had six digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Brzenski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Griffin Dieter, who had 12 digs.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 23-16. As for Torrey Pines, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 30-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poway will square off against Del Norte at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Torrey Pines, they will challenge Canyon Crest Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
