Softball Game Preview: Riverside Pirates vs. McLoughlin Pioneers

Riverside is 0-4 against McLoughlin since May of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Pirates will host the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Riverside is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-13 heartbreaker at the hands of Corbett. Even if the Pirates couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McLoughlin, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in March. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Elgin/Imbler on Friday.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for McLoughlin, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Riverside suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to McLoughlin in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
