Basketball Recap: Holy Trinity Takes a Loss

Holy Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a blow against the St. Anthony's Friars, falling 63-22. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while the Friars are ranked 84th).

Holy Trinity's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Desiree Smith, who posted five points and ten rebounds, and Alana Goodson, who put up seven points. Smith has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kiera Kozlowski, who had two points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Holy Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Holy Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for St. Anthony's, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Holy Trinity will take on Sacred Heart Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. St. Anthony's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
